Battle of the Firms is a fun-filled event to engage our design community in a little friendly competition through field day activities. This year we will continue to use the event to help educate and support Interior Design Advocacy in the state of Florida. A portion of our proceeds will go to the chapter’s Advocacy fund.
IIDA advocates for the advancement in design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach to increase the value and understanding of interior design. We are strong advocates for the registration and certification of practicing interior designers who work in a code-impacted environment.

TRIBE FORMATION: Each tribe will consist of 6 players, with at least one woman required per team.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: We welcome teams from local architecture, construction, design, and engineering firms, along with dealerships and rep groups. Teams with less than 6 players and individuals are highly encouraged to register—we'll pair you with others to create a full team, so everyone has a chance to participate.
*You do not have to be an IIDA member to participate on a team however for each participant that is a member your team will receive additional points.
*Firms can self sponsor their teams with a full 6 player roster.

The Team Spirit Award will go to the team with the most spirited outfits, as voted by our event volunteers and staff. Prizes include sponsored swag bags and more!

🌴Before competition day, teams and sponsors will be paired together during a special Match-Up Event. This is your chance to meet your sponsor, receive team buffs, and kick off the Survivor spirit. Attendance is strongly encouraged so everyone is set for game day!
Location: Perdue Office Interiors
Date: Thursday, September 25th | 5:30pm - 7:30pm
This is a closed event for just teams and team sponsors.
What to Expect:
Teams will be paired with their official Team Sponsor, forming their tribe
Each team will draw their tribe name and color at random
Meet your fellow castaways and snap a pic at the tribe photo wall
Light refreshments + Survivor-style bonding
Team sponsor shoutouts + photo ops
We will reach out to team captains with more details after registration closes.

Check-in begins at 10:00 AM on event day. Please arrive on time to allow for parking, gathering your team, and strategizing before the opening ceremony. All teams must be checked in by 10:30 AM to participate in the first challenge.

Parking will be limited to 65 vehicles total. Please carpool if possible to help ensure there’s enough space for everyone. Look for signage and volunteers directing you to the designated event parking lot.

We will have a food truck onsite providing lunch for all teams, sponsors, and volunteers. In addition, a bar will be provided by Catered Cocktails to keep you refreshed throughout the day. Water stations will also be available to keep everyone hydrated.

Each team will receive custom team t-shirts, Survivor-style buffs, and team flags. Stay tuned for the announcement on when and where to pick up your t-shirts and buffs prior to the event. Flags will be distributed the day of the event at check-in.
Teams are encouraged to show off their spirit! Feel free to accessorize with face paint, props, or creative add-ons that make your team stand out. Just keep in mind that anything you bring should be safe, easy to move in, and weather-appropriate.
Please wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities. Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are highly recommended.

This year’s Battle of the Firms: Survivor Edition will feature a full day of exciting, Survivor-inspired competitions designed to test your teamwork, strategy, and endurance.
Morning: Survivor Scavenger Hunt
Kick off the day with a campus-wide scavenger hunt packed with clues, hidden idols, and fun team challenges. Work together to solve riddles, complete mini tasks, and race to collect points before time runs out. Strategy, speed, and attention to detail will be key!Lunch Break
Recharge and refuel with lunch from our onsite food truck, provided for all teams, sponsors, and volunteers. Relax, regroup, and get ready to face the afternoon gauntlet.Afternoon: Mini Gauntlet Games
After lunch, teams will rotate through a series of mini Survivor-style challenges that combine physical skill, problem-solving, and team coordination. Examples include:Relay Races & Obstacle Runs – speed and teamwork are everything.
Oversized Puzzles & Strategy Games – test your brains under pressure.
Trivia & Advocacy Challenges – show off your knowledge of design and Survivor.
Each station will have posted rules, a game official, and point tracking. Points are earned all day long, and the team with the highest overall score will be crowned the Battle of the Firms Champion!
